Set 10 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Breaks Natal Combination
Question: In the 寅 (Yín) year — which Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will be damaged?
3-2 Foundation Challenge Answers
Set 1 — Basic Yin-Yang Production and Clash
Question: Between A and B — which 卯 (Mǎo) Wood will be damaged?
Answer: Neither A nor B's 卯 Wood will be damaged.
For A: 子 (Zǐ) Water is Yang and can directly rescue 卯 Wood. For B: following the greedy-for-production-forgetting-clash concept — the two 酉 (Yǒu) Metal first produce 亥 (Hài) Water, and 亥 Water then produces 卯 Wood to form a bridge. 卯 Wood is unharmed.
If A were to have 巳 (Sì) or 午 (Wǔ) Fire arrive, Yang 子 Water can act first to clash the Fire. If B's 酉 were changed to 申 (Shēn) Metal — Yang acts first, and Yin 亥 Water cannot form the bridge — 卯 Wood would then certainly be damaged. One school of thought holds that one 酉 produces one 亥, and the other 酉 will clash one 卯 — but according to Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) flow, this does bring some pressure. However, in the end things can still remain undisturbed.
Set 2 — Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) Combines Natal
Question: Is natal Day Master 丙 (Bǐng) Fire damaged?
Answer: Yes — the Day Master is clashed in the natal chart. When the Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) brings 庚 (Gēng) Metal — 乙庚 (Yǐ-Gēng) combine. Natal 庚 Metal is equivalent to going out-on-the-stem (出干 chūgān). The damage to 丙 Fire will then be reduced. This can be read as good fortune.
Explanation: The Yang Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng) act first. 庚 Metal produces 壬 (Rén) Water — but can 壬 Water then produce 乙 (Yǐ) Wood, which produces Day Master 丙 Fire? It can produce, but the force is insufficient. Because 乙 Wood is Yin — Yin cannot fully open the path between two Yang elements. Day Master 丙 Fire can only take the beating. Therefore in the natal chart, the Day Master is clashed. When the Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) brings 庚 Metal — 乙庚 combine. Natal 庚 Metal is equivalent to going out-on-the-stem (出干 chūgān). The damage to 丙 Fire will reduce. This can be read as good fortune.
Set 3 — Combination First
Question: Is Day Master 甲 (Jiǎ) Wood damaged?
Answer: No — the Day Master is not damaged.
Explanation: Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 己 (Jǐ) combines Year Stem 甲 (Jiǎ). Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) 庚 (Gēng) combines Hour Stem 乙 (Yǐ). Only one 辛 (Xīn) Metal remains in the natal chart — but 辛 Metal cannot fully clash Yang Day Master 甲 Wood. Yin cannot clash Yang. The Day Master is unharmed.
Set 4 — Separated Columns Cannot Combine
Question: Will 丁 (Dīng) Fire combine with the Hour Stem and Day Master 壬 (Rén) Water?
(Heavenly Stems (天干 Tiāngān): 壬 (Rén) · 壬 · 甲 (Jiǎ) · 丁 (Dīng))
Answer: No — it will not combine.
Explanation: Looking at the Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) flow: Yang Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng) act first. 壬 Water produces 甲 Wood, which then produces 丁 Fire. However, 丁 Fire and 壬 Water are separated by 甲 Wood in the middle — the conditions for Combination are not met. But suppose that in the dynamic Decade or Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián), a 己 (Jǐ) Earth arrives and combines away 甲 Wood — when 甲 Wood is taken away, 丁 and 壬 can then immediately combine.
Set 5 — Greedy for Production, Forgetting Clash
Question: Will Day Master 丁 (Dīng) Fire be damaged?
Answer: No — it will not be damaged! The Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) flow rule is: production first, clash last.
Teacher Wenbao's explanation:
- 乙 (Yǐ) Wood as starting point → Wood produces Fire — but Day Master 丁 Fire can only be the starting point or the ending point.
- 丁 Fire as starting point → Day Master can serve as starting point, but there is no Earth to produce next — this does not work.
- 辛 (Xīn) Metal as starting point → Metal produces Water → Water produces Wood → Wood produces Fire. Excellent!
- 癸 (Guǐ) Water as starting point → Water produces Wood → Wood produces Fire — but Day Master 丁 Fire can only be the starting point or the ending point.
The answer is obvious: using 辛 Metal as the starting point is the correct solution. The Heavenly Stem Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng) flow smoothly and powerfully.
Set 6 — Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) Combines Away the Natal
Question: Which Earthly Branch Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will be damaged?
Answer: 申 (Shēn) Metal is damaged.
Explanation: Natal: 申 Metal produces 子 (Zǐ) Water, which clashes 午 (Wǔ) Fire. 卯 (Mǎo) Wood wants to rescue 午 Fire but lacks sufficient force. When Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 丑 (Chǒu) Earth combines away 子 Water — once 子 Water is taken — 午 Fire can then clash 申 Metal.
Set 7 — Dynamic Combination Changes
Question ①: Without looking at Decade or Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) — which Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will be damaged?
Question ②: If the Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) brings 卯 (Mǎo) Wood — which Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will suffer?
Answer ①: Natal: 巳 (Sì) Fire produces 未 (Wèi) Earth and 戌 (Xū) Earth, which clash 子 (Zǐ) Water — 子 Water is damaged.
Answer ②: Static 戌 (Xū) Earth will combine away dynamic 卯 (Mǎo) Wood. Once 卯戌 have fully combined, 子 Water is released and kills 巳 (Sì) Fire. The rescue force of 未 Earth is insufficient. Therefore 巳 Fire suffers.
Set 8 — Dynamic Combination Resolves Natal Clash
Question: Which Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will be damaged?
Answer: Natal: 巳申 (Sì-Shēn) combine. 子 (Zǐ) Water clashes 午 (Wǔ) Fire — 午 Fire is damaged. Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 丑 (Chǒu) Earth combines away the Day Branch 子 Water. Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) 未 (Wèi) Earth combines away the Hour Branch 午 Fire. In this year, 午 Fire goes from being damaged to escaping confinement. This should be read as good fortune.
Set 9 — Earthly Branch Day Master Escapes Confinement
Question: The Day Master is 己 (Jǐ) Earth. When the Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) brings 戌 (Xū) Earth and the Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) brings 卯 (Mǎo) Wood — does the Earthly Branch show Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed?
Answer: No — there is no Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed!
Explanation: The natal chart shows 未 (Wèi) Earth and 丑 (Chǒu) Earth being caught in a pincer attack by two 卯 (Mǎo) Wood elements — this is an Earthly Branch Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed. But when Yearly 卯 Wood goes out-on-the-stem (出干 chūgān) and combines away Decade 戌 (Xū) Earth — natal's two 卯 Wood are also taken away along with it. At this point, 未 Earth and 丑 Earth both escape confinement. And remember: Earthly Branch 未 Earth and 丑 Earth are equivalent to Heavenly Stem Day Master 己 Earth.
Set 10 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Breaks Natal Combination
Question: In the 寅 (Yín) year — which Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) will be damaged?
Answer: 巳 (Sì) Fire is damaged!
Explanation: Natal: 寅亥 (Yín-Hài) combine. Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 子 (Zǐ) Water produces 寅 Wood — 寅 Wood produces 巳 Fire. When Yearly 寅 Wood appears and is damaged — at this point the natal 寅亥 combination is broken apart. With natal's two 寅 Wood gone and 亥 Water revived — together with Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 子 Water — they doubly clash 巳 Fire. The damage is severe and 巳 Fire cannot hold up.

④ 亥 (Hài) Water can still extinguish 巳 (Sì) Fire.
3-4 Advanced Challenge Answers
Set 11 — Static and Dynamic Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)
Question: Is Day Master 丁 (Dīng) Fire damaged?
Answer: No — Day Master 丁 Fire is not damaged.
Explanation: Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 乙 (Yǐ) Wood combines Year Stem 庚 (Gēng) Metal. The Hour Stem 庚 Metal remains. Day Master 丁 produces Yearly 戊 (Wù) Earth — 戊 Earth produces 庚 Metal — 庚 Metal produces 壬 (Rén) Water. 丁 Fire is not damaged.
Readers should note: the natal 丁壬 (Dīng-Rén) clash-combination is very hard to break apart. There are two methods to break it: First — through Decade and Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián). For example, if Decade brings 壬 Water and Yearly brings 戊 Earth — 戊 Earth clashes 壬 Water. This process typically takes a longer time, spanning multiple years. Second — through Yearly and Monthly Luck (流月 Liúyuè). For example, if the Yearly brings 壬 Water and the Monthly brings 丁 Fire — 丁壬 combine. Then the Monthly 戊 Earth clashes 壬 Water. At this point, 壬 Water's qi is gone — this process typically lasts only a short few months.
Set 12 — Unstable Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Qi
Question: Without considering the Earthly Branches (地支 Dìzhī) — what is the financial luck like in the 丙 (Bǐng) year?
Explanation: First of all — 丙辛 (Bǐng-Xīn) combining does not mean 辛 disappears. There is still 甲 (Jiǎ) Wood beside it — 甲 Wood can still assist 丙 Fire. This means 丙 Fire is strong and 辛 Metal is weak. In the 丙 year, there is an additional Wealth Star (財星 Cáixīng) present. 甲 Wood produces 丙 Fire — this is Output Star producing Wealth. Financial luck looks good.
However, readers must also pay attention to the months when Yearly 丙 Fire disappears. When 丙 Fire is absent or damaged, 辛 Metal will be released — financial loss will occur. Please note: Combination and Clash are different concepts. Combination is the cause; Clash is the effect — meaning the time when the Combination occurs is the cause, and the time when trouble actually manifests is the effect. Once 丙 Fire is damaged, the prediction of financial loss will come true. Factoring in Monthly Luck (流月 Liúyuè) qi will make the reading even more precise.
Set 13 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed
Question: In which Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) does Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed appear?
Answer: ②
Explanation: Natal: 甲己 (Jiǎ-Jǐ) clash-combine. With 壬 (Rén) Water also adding force — the Day Master is severely damaged. In the first Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) — 己 Earth can combine away 甲 Wood Officer-Clash (七殺 Qīshā). Yearly 庚 (Gēng) Metal can produce natal 壬 Water — the Day Master is unharmed. In the second Yearly — 乙 (Yǐ) Wood will clash the Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 己 Earth, breaking apart the 甲己 combination. At this point, natal 甲 Wood is released and resumes clashing 己 Earth — the Day Master is clashed. Note: Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 己 Earth does not equal the Day Master's 己 Earth. The Day Master being clashed is caused by 甲 Wood being released. Therefore the answer is ②.
Set 14 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)-Combined
Question: Which of the following statements about the final result is correct?
Answer: ④ — 乙 (Yǐ) Wood will not fully escape confinement.
Explanation: Natal 丁 (Dīng) Fire pulls away 壬 (Rén) Water. 庚 (Gēng) Metal clash-combines 乙 (Yǐ) Wood — Day Master is under clash-combination. Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) 癸 (Guǐ) Water clashes Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 丁 Fire — this is equivalent to the Year Stem 丁 Fire being damaged. At this point, the 丁壬 combination is broken apart. 壬 Water bursts free and appears to come to rescue 乙 Wood. On the surface, it looks like the Day Master is escaping confinement. But in reality, only approximately fifty percent recovery is achievable. When a Clash-Combination uses the Seal Star (印星 Yìnxīng) to serve as a bridge to resolution, the effectiveness is only at half strength. The phenomenon of the Day Master being clashed still exists — one can only say that fortune is a little better this year.
Set 15 — Monthly Luck (流月 Liúyuè) Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed
Question: Which of the following statements about the final result is correct?
Answer: ④ — Day Master 辛 (Xīn) Metal will not be damaged.
Explanation: Natal: 丙 (Bǐng) Fire produces 戊 (Wù) Earth, which clashes 壬 (Rén) Water — 壬 Water is damaged. Yearly 戊 Earth combines away Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 癸 (Guǐ) Water — this is equivalent to Hour Stem 戊 Earth temporarily disappearing. When 戊 Earth — the bodyguard — is no longer home, 壬 Water can then extinguish 丙 Fire. But Day Master 辛 Metal remains unharmed as before. If a 丁 (Dīng) Fire arrives in the Monthly Luck (流月 Liúyuè) — 辛 Metal would be finished.
Set 16 — Greedy for Production, Forgetting Clash
Question: Which of the following options is incorrect?
Answer: ① — "卯 (Mǎo) Wood will be damaged" is incorrect.
Explanation: Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 酉 (Yǒu) Metal combines Year Branch 辰 (Chén) Earth — 辰 Earth's force is weakened. 卯戌 (Mǎo-Xū) cannot combine because 子 (Zǐ) Water separates them. Hour Branch 戌 Earth produces Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 申 (Shēn) Metal — 申 Metal produces Day Branch 子 Water — 子 Water then produces Month Branch 卯 Wood. 卯 Wood is unharmed. Therefore the answer is ①. If the Monthly Luck (流月 Liúyuè) brings a 子 (Zǐ) month or 丑 (Chǒu) month, 卯 Wood would then be uprooted.
Set 17 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Breaks Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) Combination
Question: Which of the following options is correct?
Answer: ④ — 子 (Zǐ) Water can produce 寅 (Yín) Wood.
Explanation: Natal: 申 (Shēn) Metal produces 子 Water, 子 Water produces 寅 Wood — smooth sequential flow. With the Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) bringing 丑 (Chǒu) Earth, it will combine away Hour Branch 子 Water. When 子 Water weakens, 申 Metal goes after two 寅 Wood that are in seasonal power — 申 Metal also loses force.
However, dynamic Decade and Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) acts first in priority. Yearly 卯 (Mǎo) Wood clashes Decade 丑 Earth — breaking apart the 子丑 combination. Why can 卯 Wood kill 丑 Earth? Because natal 申 Metal has gone to attack 寅 Wood and is exhausted, barely surviving itself — it can no longer also go after Yearly 丑 Earth. When 子 Water is released — the flow becomes: 申 Metal produces 子 Water, 子 Water produces 寅 Wood — smooth again. Therefore the answer is ④.
Set 18 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Combined by Natal
Question: Which of the following options is correct?
Answer: ② — 卯 (Mǎo) Wood and 戌 (Xū) Earth will definitely combine.
Teacher Wenbao's explanation:
① 辰 (Chén) Earth wants to clash Decade Luck (大運 Dàyùn) 子 (Zǐ) Water — but is ultimately pulled away by natal 酉 (Yǒu) Metal. 子 Water is unharmed.
② 辰 Earth only combines Month Branch 酉 Metal — it does not combine Day Branch 酉 Metal. Once Month Branch 酉 Metal is pulled away, 卯戌 (Mǎo-Xū) can immediately combine.
③ 辰 Earth combines Month Branch 酉 Metal — 卯戌 immediately combine with a snap. 卯 Wood will not be attacked by 酉 Metal. Unharmed!
④ 辰 Earth can only combine away one 酉 Metal from the natal chart. (Priority order for combining: Month Branch > Hour Branch.)
Set 19 — Combination Causes Damage
Question: Which of the following options is correct?
Answer: ④ — Yearly 戌 (Xū) Earth will be damaged.
Teacher Wenbao's explanation:
① Combination must proceed from outside inward — therefore 丑 (Chǒu) Earth combines Year Branch 子 (Zǐ) Water, not Day Branch 子 Water.
② 丑 Earth combines Year Branch 子 Water — with 子 Water gone, 寅 (Yín) and 亥 (Hài) are now separated by empty space, so they cannot combine.
③ 寅亥 (Yín-Hài) do not combine — 子 Water still has 寅 Wood as protection and will not be damaged.
④ 丑 Earth combines Year Branch 子 Water → 子 Water produces 寅 Wood → 寅 Wood clashes 戌 Earth. Therefore Yearly 戌 Earth is damaged.
Set 20 — Yearly Luck (流年 Liúnián) Breaks Natal Combination
Question: The Day Master is 丙 (Bǐng) Fire. Which of the following options is correct?
Answer: ② — 寅 (Yín) Wood combined by 亥 (Hài) Water — 戌 (Xū) Earth is unharmed.
Explanation: Natal: 卯戌 (Mǎo-Xū) combine. 亥 (Hài) Water clashes 巳 (Sì) Fire — 巳 Fire is damaged. However, Yearly 寅 Wood cannot damage Decade 戌 Earth — because 亥 Water will pull 寅 Wood away first. In the end, only 巳 Fire produces 戌 Earth remains. At this point natal 戌 Earth actually becomes stronger — but 卯 Wood weakens.
Appendix
Teacher Wenbao's Annotations
(1) Many people say BaZi is a form of statistics. Please stop believing this claim that has no basis whatsoever — because this subject simply cannot be statistically tabulated. Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) production and clash appears simple on the surface, but is in fact extraordinarily complex. Strictly speaking, it is a discipline of logical deduction.
BaZi is composed of four Heavenly Stems (天干 Tiāngān) paired with four Earthly Branches (地支 Dìzhī). You might be completely confused: with ten Heavenly Stems (天干 Tiāngān) paired with twelve Earthly Branches (地支 Dìzhī), how many kinds of BaZi combinations can be formed? The answer is 1,123,200 kinds! Does this number surprise you? Yes indeed! And moreover, this is only the basic number. Let me take you through a quick math lesson — and let me tell you the subtleties hidden within it.
First, look at the Year. One Jiǎzǐ cycle (甲子循環 jiǎzǐ xúnhuán) spans 60 years. In other words, 60 years is one complete Jiǎzǐ cycle (甲子循環 jiǎzǐ xúnhuán). So the Year portion is fixed and unchanging at 60.
What about Month? A year has twelve months. Within the 60-year Jiǎzǐ cycle (甲子循環 jiǎzǐ xúnhuán), each year also has 12 months — fixed. So the Month portion is multiplied by 12.
Then look at Day. This is the main point of this explanation. Many people assume a month has 30 days; some think a month has only 29 days; others use an average, adding both numbers and dividing by 2 to get 29.5 days. In fact, all of these are incorrect concepts. Why? We just spoke of the 60-year Jiǎzǐ cycle (甲子循環 jiǎzǐ xúnhuán) — well, Days also cycle in 60-day Jiǎzǐ rounds! Don't understand? Let me use a real example to illustrate.
Please open a perpetual calendar and look up the 1st day of the 1st lunar month of 1951. Can you see it? That day happens to fall on February 6th in the Gregorian calendar, and it reads 丁丑 (Dīngchǒu), correct? The stem-branch designation for that daily qi is 丁丑. OK! Now in the same year, please continue looking ahead to find the next 丁丑 day. The answer is the 2nd day of the 3rd lunar month (April 7th in the Gregorian calendar). Oh! Is that not exactly a 60-day cycle?
If this pattern keeps cycling forward, a very large number of combinations will emerge. Therefore the Day portion must be multiplied by 60. You might also ask me: "1951 and 2011 are both 辛卯 (Xīnmǎo) years — but will the 1st day of the 1st lunar month be the same 丁丑 day?" Please open the perpetual calendar again and look up 2011. You will find that the 1st day of the 1st lunar month is 己丑 (Jǐchǒu) — not 丁丑. The answer is already very clear: is the Day calculation not uniquely distinctive? There are 60 possible arrangement combinations.
Now look at Hour. The Hour portion is relatively easy to understand. Everyone knows a day has 24 hours; one two-hour period is one 時辰 (shíchen); a day therefore has 12 two-hour periods. So the Hour portion should be multiplied by 12, correct? Wait! This calculation method is actually incorrect. Why? Don't forget: the Zǐ (子) hour is divided into Early Zǐ Hour and Late Zǐ Hour. The distinction of the Zǐ Hour makes a very significant difference in chart reading — so the correct answer is to multiply by 13 (12 + 1). Finally, multiply by 2 at the end. Why multiply by 2? Because men and women are different!
Having written to this point, let us take the main points of this explanation and recalculate using a formula:
(Year) × (Month) × (Day) × (Hour) × (Male/Female)
60 × 12 × 60 × 13 × 2 = 1,123,200
That is the final answer. Looking at over a million kinds of arrangement combinations — can you still say BaZi is a form of statistics? The Four Pillar Destiny calculation of our forebears is in truth a discipline of logical deduction — not statistics!
(2) Among the sixty Jiǎzǐ stem-branch combinations, any pairing that contains one Earth Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) is valid. For example: the 己亥 (Jǐhài) year, the 戊子 (Wùzǐ) year, the 丁未 (Dīngwèi) year.
(3) People with 甲 (Jiǎ) or 乙 (Yǐ) Wood Day Masters (日主 Rìzhǔ) will encounter the four Earth branch warehouses — 辰 (Chén), 戌 (Xū), 丑 (Chǒu), 未 (Wèi) — in the Earthly Branches (地支 Dìzhī). In other words, they will have two more money-making opportunities involving Wealth compared to Day Masters (日主 Rìzhǔ) of other Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng).
(4) A Taiwanese regional dialect expression (Hokkien/Minnan): meaning "completely confused," "in a fog," "inexplicable," or "half-understanding." (Note: The original Chinese is a colloquial Taiwanese slang term.)
① A term commonly used by Taiwanese youth — pronounced guī máo — describing a person's character as someone who tends to nitpick, who is excessively detail-obsessed, or who strives for absolute perfection.
Epilogue: The Three-Part Chart Reading Trilogy
The knowledge, experience, and wisdom of BaZi can almost only be acquired through real-world practice. What books say and what masters teach has nothing to do with you — unless those core principles exist deep in your bones, take root there, sprout, and do not wither away prematurely. Only after years of accumulated time can they grow strong and flourish.
You have finished the first book — have you learned something from it? How deep is your understanding of BaZi?
Faced with a BaZi you have never seen before — do you know how to read it? Can you put the Three-Part Chart Reading Trilogy to practical use?
The First Part — Knowing How to See (會看):
This refers to being able to read out the problem points in a very short period of time — whether it is financial loss, Seal being broken, Officer being broken, and so forth. These are all results calculated using the laws of Five Element (五行 Wǔxíng) production (生 shēng), clash (剋 kè), combination (合 hé), and leakage (洩 xiè). You can steal a small portion of techniques from videos on the market — but for advanced techniques, if you do not formally study with a teacher, you may spend an entire lifetime never grasping the true core principles. Exactly when can a Combination occur — and when cannot it? When will the environment override the natal BaZi? Even the masters who make videos may not understand these themselves — or perhaps they have concealed how much of the real substance has not been revealed. Or perhaps they have employed some sleight of hand that leaves you more confused the more you watch. But "knowing how to see" is only the most basic first step in reading BaZi.
The Second Part — Knowing How to Understand (會明):
Do you understand what "Wealth breaks Seal (財破印 cái pò yìn)," "Seal clashes Output Star (印剋食傷 yìn kè shíshāng)," "Companion Star (比劫 Bǐjié) combines Wealth," "Officer combines Output Star" — do you truly understand what these mean? If you also treat Combination as invisible — half of all the heavenly secrets of BaZi have already been shut off from you.
Without truly understanding the meaning of the interactions between the Ten Gods (十神 Shí Shén), you cannot explain the Day Master's behavior and feelings, cannot speak to their true inner pain. Clients will naturally feel you are inaccurate. Even if you can do the First Part — in the eyes of the Day Master, you are still unqualified.
The Third Part — Knowing How to Apply (會用):
Assuming you truly can "see" and "understand" — can you then also pass the Third Part, which is "knowing how to apply"? Every BaZi has weaknesses and strengths. How do you make suggestions to help the Day Master — solving their problems and guiding them to give full play to the advantages of their BaZi? This is not an easy thing at all. Without a broad wealth of life experience, you cannot apply the meanings of the Ten Gods (十神 Shí Shén) to the actual environment the Day Master is facing. What kind of environment can compensate for the BaZi's weaknesses? How does one give full play to personal strengths?
For example: a man's chart shows Wealth breaking Seal this month. How would you interpret this? At home, he should be mindful of potential conflicts between his wife and mother with differing opinions — minimize the time they spend alone together, or use the children as a buffer between them. At work, he must absolutely avoid acting rashly in ways that violate normal procedures — he must strictly observe company rules and regulations to avoid making mistakes.
Studying Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) requires no less effort behind the scenes — one must face every client with a professional and rigorous attitude. Casual, perfunctory conduct is absolutely not acceptable.
On the eve of the 2020 Lunar New Year's Eve — alone — the feeling of solitude is truly wonderful. Moved by emotions from within, thoughts flowing like a spring.
A few days ago, a netizen asked me: "Teacher Wenbao — what is the purpose of you writing this book? To become famous? To make more money? Aren't you afraid of having your techniques learned away by others?"
If you are a long-term fan of my YouTube channel, you may have noticed: why have I stopped making recorded videos and switched to live broadcasts? The reason is simple. Making recorded videos seems to require more effort in post-production and uploading. Comparatively, live broadcasting better trains my on-the-spot responses and also saves more time. Compared to professional YouTubers, I still have a long road ahead of me. But since going live, I have become more confident, and my ability to express myself has also been slowly improving.
Looking back at the videos I made before 2019 — every time I saw my own face in front of the camera, it was no different from a monkey's. On top of that, my view counts kept declining. I was losing more and more confidence with every video, and so I gave up. After work, I would plug in the PS4, turn on the television, and play the games I enjoyed. But... did I really understand how a PS4 works?
The spark that ignited the idea of forming the community and writing this book came from a book I happened to come across: "The Profit Model Starting from Zero."
Yes! From that moment, my way of thinking was completely transformed.
This world judges and rewards you based on OUTPUT. You must keep several key points firmly in mind: no matter how well-read a person is, how knowledgeable, how talented, how experienced, how good at motivating themselves and igniting the inner universe of their heart — if they do not show it, no one will know, and no one will care! The secret to becoming a successful person, or to gradually improving your future life, lies in putting more time into OUTPUT — taking the time that was originally spent on INPUT and redirecting it to OUTPUT.
INPUT? OUTPUT? Teacher, I'm a bit confused — what exactly are you trying to say?
Let me put it this way! In BaZi study, INPUT represents the Seal Star (印星 Yìnxīng). It is input. It is reading. It is learning. It is listening. It is training. It is enriching one's skills. It is absorbing experience. It is dreaming.
In BaZi study, OUTPUT represents the Output Star (食傷). It is output. It is creating. It is teaching. It is expressing. It is breaking through. It is passing on experience. It is using one's own two hands to work hard and realize one's dreams.
Become a social media celebrity? Ha! Does a professional destiny consultant not know what caliber of person they are? Something I would not even dare dream about! As for making money — well, as a middle-aged man with a family, that thought certainly exists. But the key is not how much money to make. The key lies in OUTPUT — sharing, passing things on, truly carrying Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) forward and making it flourish. Those with affinity will naturally gather here. Those without — there is no need to force it.
As for being afraid of having one's techniques learned away by others — I'm overthinking it! Those who want to learn — take it away! Learning and imitation are absolutely the greatest shortcut for INPUT. But without going through real-world OUTPUT again and again to verify what has been learned — it can never truly be understood.
Moreover: "Humans are made great through dreams and made happy through sharing." "Learning is like rowing upstream — stop and you fall back." When you all gradually become stronger — can I afford to stagnate? Teacher Wenbao must work doubly hard in order to break through further in this discipline — isn't that right?
In every teaching session, I pour out my heart, my mind, and the soul within — using my full sincerity to teach my students.
One day, I will certainly have built up the ability to stand on a stage and help more people who need help — using this ability to let more people's lives become richer and more abundant.
Along this entire journey, I am sincerely grateful to my father for passing down this discipline, and to the good friends who have accompanied my growth. Truly thank you! Without your criticism and encouragement, I would still be a frog in a well.
Publishing a book is not an easy thing. I am glad I took this step!
Thank you once again for purchasing and reading my debut work. We look forward to the arrival of the next book!
If your mood is unsettled — do not blame the surrounding environment. As long as the inner world remains undisturbed, simply pour your whole heart into what is before you. Quietly feel the steady, peaceful atmosphere between yourself and others. The happiness of being human is hidden within that stillness.
Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) Teaching
Having studied for most of a lifetime — why do so many people still feel confused about BaZi, knowing only half of it? Please take a few minutes to read the following. Thank you everyone!
Many people feel lost about an uncertain future and hope there is a teacher who can help them find clarity. I myself have deeply experienced that feeling — that desperate longing for hope. I actually want very much to reach out and help. But time is limited, and it is very difficult to respond to every reader individually. So I hope to convey a message here: if we have the affinity, please consider learning BaZi from me.
First, let me emphasize: this is not an advertisement for a BaZi class — it is a very substantive suggestion. I know that many people are accustomed to watching BaZi videos online. But I can say with certainty: this fragmented way of learning will not teach you the real skill. Those principles that seem right but are not quite right — if they are never truly clarified, these videos will only leave you more confused the more you watch. More importantly, these videos may contain errors. Don't assume a master is always right!
If there is a problem with the master, the credibility of the disciple's videos is even lower. Think about it: without understanding the rules, half-understanding videos that contain problems — what would be the result? It would be misunderstanding BaZi and losing confidence in it. This is the last thing Teacher Wenbao wants to see. Now that we already have an excellent teaching team — why does everyone still want to spend time going down the wrong path?
Place stones of different sizes inside a sealed vessel and spin it at high speed. You will find that over time, the larger ones gather together, and the smaller ones gather separately — naturally classified on their own. This is "like attracts like."
In fact, people are the same. We keep moving through this world, and gradually we will also gather with people of the same kind. What does "same kind" mean? Simply put: it is determined by our personal qi field. When running good fortune, you will encounter people who are a positive force for you. When running bad fortune, you will encounter people who drag you down. The fortune cycles of BaZi affect your judgment — you will walk with people who share the same philosophy and attitude, and drift apart from those whose philosophy does not align.
There was a time when I sincerely treated people well, yet because others did not appreciate it, I felt a lingering sense of loss and disappointment. But from the moment I came to understand BaZi, looking at it from a different angle — it was simply that everyone's timing was off. With that perspective, the mood became much lighter. At the right time, the right people will naturally appear.
Recruiting students works by the same logic. Unsuitable students will always find various reasons not to seek you out — and this is not a regrettable thing. It actually helps screen out a whole crowd of unsuitable people. This is affinity.
Some use teaching BaZi to make money. Some use reading BaZi to make money. Others use BaZi to make investment money.
Of the three items above, teaching BaZi is the most "foolish." Because it takes techniques that very few people know, teaches them to others at an accessible price with great mental and physical effort — and this burden may last a lifetime. Comparatively, reading charts for others is much more relaxed — bounded service with a clear scope. Whenever someone seeks me out to learn BaZi, but ultimately gives up for various reasons — my inner response is actually one of relief. Not everyone can form a teacher-student bond.
You might ask: if that is the case, why recruit students at all? Because Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) opened my eyes wide — I truly felt the ability to predict and alter destiny. That sense of amazement — I fear only a student can understand it. Carrying forward and propagating Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) is my aspiration and ambition. Good technique used only for oneself would truly be an injustice to this discipline. So I hope to contribute my part by teaching a group of capable disciples.
Being able to learn BaZi chart reading in just a few short months — with a tuition fee equivalent to what some famous teachers charge for two years' worth of chart readings — and what you gain will benefit you for life. So I do have requirements for my students. After they have mastered it, I hope they will not only read charts for themselves and their families, but will also join in promoting Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) — so that more people come to know it, more people benefit from it, and more people can make good use of and give full play to their own BaZi.
(Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) Production-Clash Learning PPT: Companion Star (比劫 Bǐjié) clashes Wealth → Output Star combines Companion Star (比劫 Bǐjié) → Officer clashes Day Pillar (日柱 Rìzhù) → Seal clashes Output Star (印剋食傷 yìn kè shíshāng) → 乙 Wood produces Wealth, clashes Officer → Output Star produces Wealth Star (財星 Cáixīng) → Output Star clashes Officer → Officer clashes Companion Star (比劫 Bǐjié))
Compared to the BaZi courses on the marketplace, the greatest difference is that the relationship between teacher and student is a master-disciple relationship — not a commercial one. After the course concludes, contact is maintained between both parties. Students can continue to ask questions. On the path of BaZi learning, if new core principles emerge, they will be shared with former students too. This kind of teaching system is very hard for other teachers in the marketplace to provide. They may loudly announce that their method of reading charts has changed — but they will not proactively notify their former students. This may leave students going on making the same errors forever.
Teaching two different kinds of students — one is a blank slate, the other has a traditional BaZi foundation (including those who enjoy watching other teachers' online teaching videos) — which kind is easier to teach? You might think the one with a foundation is easier. That is a serious mistake! That kind of student is actually the harder one to teach — because they have already been thoroughly influenced by all manner of chaotic, jumbled "BaZi foundations." Correcting the student's concepts is genuinely not easy. Fragments of knowledge cobbled together from various sources and applied to chart reading easily produces confusion and half-understanding.
Ordinary people generally assume that chart-reading videos on the internet are always correct. How naive! Being poisoned second by second without even realizing it! Just the basic concepts taught in the very first lesson — I can confirm that most people will not be able to learn them from any video.
Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) has been around for a while, but has only attracted attention in recent years. However, the quality in the marketplace is uneven. So I hope to train a group of destiny teachers with real ability, to jointly promote Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) together. So please be mentally prepared: in the future, you may have the opportunity to pass Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) on as well.
In order to avoid preconceived ideas: students whose traditional BaZi concepts are already deeply and firmly rooted, or who insist on their own views and are unwilling to accept new concepts — please absolutely do not seek me out. A day already has only 24 hours — not enough. I have no desire to waste time changing another person's way of thinking, nor to sacrifice precious time for small returns.
Although teaching requires payment — this is completely different from an ordinary commercial purchase. It contains the teacher's thought and patience for the student — and is also a lifelong education. The teacher will not walk away from you. By comparison, the tuition fee is negligible. Students must keep in mind: this is a master-disciple relationship. If you insist on positioning yourself as a consumer — I suggest you find another teacher.

Many netizens ask about the course fees — some are frightened off by the price, others try to bargain. Being frightened off means we are not fated. As for bargaining — it means this discipline has already lost its value in that person's eyes. Simply put: the price no longer equals the value.
This BaZi PPT course system — the lesson materials were largely planned and written by myself personally. Strictly speaking, it was not only my own effort — it took half a year from start to finish to complete over 650 pages of lesson content. For me, this was practically an impossible mission. However, this is not advertising — I simply want to convey a personal thought: for friends who are truly motivated to learn, the value of this course already far exceeds its price. Once the teaching system matures, the price will no longer be what it is today. Intellectual property cannot be measured by price alone.
Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng) Production-Clash Learning
Many courses in the market proclaim "graduate in five lessons." Based on Teacher Wenbao's teaching experience of over a year — I can guarantee that five lessons is absolutely not enough to master this. The number of teaching hours I give my students has already far exceeded the time of five lessons. For the extra teaching hours beyond five lessons — I will absolutely never charge students additional fees. Because my only philosophy is this: making money is just a process. Teaching students well is my responsibility and mission — a kind of affinity between master and disciple that money is very hard to buy.
Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) does not discuss: combination-transformation (合化 héhuà), Earthly Branch hidden stems (地支藏干 dìzhī cánggān), Three-Harmony (三合 Sānhé), Three-Meeting (三會 Sānhuì), Punishment-Clash-Break-Harm (刑沖破害 Xíng Chōng Pò Hài), Rooting (通根 Tōnggēn), or Pattern analysis. Simple core principles — a blank-slate student can learn chart reading in just a few lessons. But those so-called "experienced" students may need dozens of lessons just to correct their preconceived notions — which is truly daunting to contemplate.
Before every teaching session, I look at the student's BaZi and decide how to teach them — the goal being that they learn happily and achieve genuine comprehension. I look at whether there is a Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed or Seal Clashes Output Star (印剋食傷 Yìn Kè Shíshāng) situation, and then design a learning sequence for them accordingly. Teaching according to each individual's capacity.
Some students, due to Output Star or Day Master Clash (日主受剋 Rìzhǔ Shòu Kè)ed issues, may learn more slowly — finding it difficult to express and apply what they have already learned. This is entirely due to mental pressure. BaZi study requires rationality by its very nature. For this kind of student, I will not use a rush-for-results approach. Instead, I give them time to slowly comprehend and absorb.
Generally speaking, people with damaged Output Stars (食傷 Shíshāng) tend to be more impulsive, stubborn, and have difficulty expressing and integrating knowledge. If the Seal is also weak alongside a weak Output Star, the problem becomes even greater — on one hand urgently wanting quick results; on the other hand not even understanding what they have actually learned. This is in truth very dangerous.
My course is divided into five lessons in total — but this does not mean the subject is mastered in five lessons. I must ensure that my students clearly understand my teaching system, and that they can also apply the BaZi they have learned to everyday life. Only then do we move to the next lesson. Because I care.
Five Elements BaZi (五行八字 Wǔxíng Bāzì) Production-Clash Learning — Team Teaching
We are only a small team — but quality over quantity. I have never seen any other teacher do what we do: we have established a fixed group, providing current students and graduates with free continuing education. Students can continue to receive sharing and instruction from other teachers within the community group — including all manner of chart-reading technique instruction. Even better: absolutely no additional charges whatsoever.
There is only one reason: I want to teach students the most accurate, genuine material — because students represent us. Through professional teaching, let the public rediscover the Production-Clash Learning of the Five Elements (五行 Wǔxíng). What we use is not traditional BaZi — it is a life-based BaZi that can be analyzed day by day.
